Anionic Resin

Anionic Resin

Anionic resin is a synthetic material, usually in the form of small spheres, used to remove negative ions (anions) from water and replace them with other desired negative ions.
This process is fundamental for water purification, especially in demineralization and deionization systems, where it is necessary to remove ions such as chloride, sulphate and nitrate.

How does anionic resin work?

The anionic resin contains active functional groups that attract and retain negative ions present in the water.
When the water passes through the resin, ions such as chloride (Cl-), sulphate (SO₄²-) and nitrate (NO₃-) are exchanged for hydroxyl ions (OH-) present in the resin.
This process results in the production of demineralized water, suitable for various industrial and laboratory applications.
