The screw press is advanced dewatering equipment designed to remove water from sludge efficiently and effectively. Using a “screw press” mechanism, this equipment transforms liquid sludge into a dehydrated material, making it easier to handle, transport and dispose of.
The liquid sludge is fed into a cylindrical chamber that houses a helical screw. The screw propels the sludge along the chamber, compressing it against a flange. During this process, the solids-free water passes through a grate in the chamber wall and flows into a collection compartment, from where it is directed to the equipment outlet. The concentrated sludge is released through a small passage at the lateral ends of the flange.
